Mountain Biking - Which Bike to Buy?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
OK, this is a toughy. Both of these are still available at my LBS; I'm so torn. Do I go with the "King Kenny" laser-stripe vibe, with all the storied Jones Bros./Hurricane Hannah history or do I go with the one that evokes the desert sled of my dreams with echos of Inter-Ams past still ringing in my ears and the chance to be Malcolm Smith for a day every now and then?
It's definitely going to be my cross country whip when I add it to my stable.

(. . . And, no, I don't want a rigid, steel, singlespeed 29er)

the second one.
The choice is easy - number 1.
I'm conflicted. You didn't help.
Of course what I REALLY wanted was the Pursang; but I let that opportunity slip by a couple years ago . . . .

Kenny Roberts. And you know why I said that.
Just get a pit bike.YZ or an RM 80 would be a fun litle pit bike indeed. Guess I should at least finish re-ringing the Mini-Trail and get it running again. Hmmmmmm . . . . .
Kenny Roberts. And you know why I said that.Oh yes I do.
BTW, I just recently re-watched the footage (out on YouTube) of King Kenny on the TZ750 on the mile track at Indy - - absolutely mind-boggling ("They don't pay me enough to ride that thing."). They brought him and the restored TZ back to Indy last year for a 'reunion' ride (also out on YouTube).
