Mountain Biking - Guess who is racing Leadville this year??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I even have sponsors! I have not been this happy, or excited, in a long time :D
Below are some other races I am doing. The reds are maybes. I will probably find a few late in the season to add on come closer to the Fall.

hehehe, thanks!
you know what is awesome, it is out and back. At some point Lance will be coming head on. What shall I do? Stick to the wheels? clothes-line? High five? the options seem endless...
Congrats! Looks like an ambitious schedule; good luck :thumb: !
BTW, I see room in that to squeeze in the 'Round the Clock (http://www.roundandround.com/RoundTheClock/RoundTheClock.php) 24-hour in Spokane.

you're killing me! Unfortunately, I do have to squeeze weekend work shifts into those schedules. As is, I will probably already have to switch with co workers and I might even catch some flak.
I am saving the 2011 Coeur d'Alene though...keep me posted for sign-up if you can.

Daaamn! That's awesome. I was up there for the running race (as a pacer, not a racer...I ran 38 miles but ate as much as the guys running the 100 heheh), and it's beautiful country. Enjoy and good luck! You are beyond hardcore.
I will see you at Cohutta! At this time I'm planning on it anyways. Leadville will be a blast.

Sounds good. I'll be with my wife, Olga. We both love burgers & beer. Well, beer even more than burgers.
This will be my first MTB race. Done some road racing, cyclo-cross, triathlons, & duathlons. But this looks like a spectacular race. I'm looking forward to it.

You should really try and head down to Wilkesboro and do the Warrior Creek race, if for no other reason than to ride the trails there. They are first rate.

can we discuss this more? I vote for a high five but all the choices are making that decision seem lame.
oh and good luck with all these races! kick some butt.
On the Mohican - Stay up front in the beginning, even if you have to redline yourself (I know, not somehting you want to do during a 100 miler, but the alternative is worse). they only give you a mile or so to spread out before they dump you into the singletrack. You must get to the singletrack first or you are screwed for the first 20+ miles (if you can ride singletrack). There are enough roadies in these races that you will want to scream when the person in front of you has to dismount to ride over a 4'' root.
The race is getting big enough now that they should seperate the 100k from the 100 milers. But they didn't last year.

interesting. so is it essentially a sprint to the single track? this sucks :)

I will probably say something lame like "go Lance" and he'll be thinking I am like the 219th d-bag to say that so far...
Congrats, MX!! Good luck to you!
Thanks! I will definitely keep the board updated as the season progresses.
first things first...I have to lose like 15 pounds :innocent:
then I will focus on long road rides and plenty of running. I need to get past that Leadville Marathon in order to do the Leadville 100. I bypassed the lottery by signing up for the other Leadville events :)

Last I saw you were thin already.
Last I saw you were thin already.
and you'd still think that...
clothes can trick you over time.
you need to be pretty trim for these...especially at altitude 12000+ feet. I will be at a major disadvantage for this. I will not have time to spend acclimatizing.
so I need to be trim

yeah, no I think quite the opposite. unless injured. He had nothing to gain by doing it to begin with and has already hinted at doing it again. but you could be right.
either way it will be awesome for me. :)

To start there is a pretty steep road climb. you have to hammer up it. Then a small section of dirt road and then bam.....everyone stopped waiting to file into the singletrack. People crashing all over the place.
Now, I want to be clear. I recommend getting to the singletrack first becuase the first 40 miles of the race has some really sweet buffed out singletrack in it that was made to be ridden fast. Swoopy, smooth with a few rocks and roots scattered in and about. Stuff that you can really just let go of the brakes on and mach. Getting stuck behind riders who are constantly on the brakes is just dissapointing and disheartening.

Mx, you' just need to quit your job.

do you think everyone is trying to get to the single track fast? I mean I know it's a race , but I wonder if everyone has this strategy or if I could get in front of a lot of riders by giving a lot more effort than I would have at the start of a race like this.
I am glad to you told me this...I would have been way chill at the start.
things that make you go hmmmm.....
Mx, you' just need to quit your job.
hahaha, I know. I have been joking about that.
Work is no longer a passion...at this time anyway. It's just a job.
This is one of my passions. As is everyone here or we wouldn't have sought out an Internet forum to post on I suppose.

Nice.
I envy you.
I was in line for a cycle youth sponsorship, and was going to race the GSC Series this year... but I moved, and there's no races around here
