Howdy,

I just bought a Bottecchia (1989 or 1990). It's red with a chrome fork and chainstay. It doesn't say anywhere what kind of Columbus tubing it is, but under the bottom bracket on the right side is stamped "SL2". Does anyone know if this is typical for Columbus SL? Or is it Aelle like I had expected when I bought it? Either way, I've never felt so good!

If you ever get around to weighing it, that should give you some clues -- SL is supposed to be lighter than Aelle

I have a late 80s early 90s Bottecchia. Its SL tubing and the bottom bracket is stamped SL. I not sure but SL2 may stand for SLX tubing. My bike is fairly light for the make and model. Hope that helps.

Thanks, y'all!

Yup, that's helpful about the SL stamp on the bottom bracket. I know that it really doesn't matter; I already bought the bike. But, I was just curious about identifying the tubing. I have a Puch made from 531 but the Bottecchia feels like a totally different animal. Smooth and supple!

Anyway, I appreciate your time!
