Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi all,
I'm a relative newb to the PNW, coming from New England, and I'm looking for suggestions for good club rides. I've found Cucina Fresca's team and a couple rides on the cascade bikes page, but there has to be more out there for varying times, commitments, and types. Any suggestions would be more than welcome.
As for shops I've looked into, i've been to Recycled Cycles, Speedy Reedy, Bikeworks (love it!), and Wright Bros. in Fremont. Wright Bros in particular have been nothing short of amazing - awesome service, with great mechanics, but I don't think they have a road club/team, as they're more directed at track riders. Any others that you enjoy?
Thanks for suggestions!

The only one I can think of that you didn't already mention is Second Ascent in Ballard. They're an outdoor shop that does cycling, camping, and climbing. They have a race team and they also sponsor well established crit (Ballard Crit). I don't know much else but they seem like nice guys.

Second Ascent is a great bike shop and a great team, but rides aren't open to the general public except at the fall meet-the-team ride. In terms of faster open group rides in the seattle metro area, before I joined a team, i found I could get a pretty good workout with the goose bumps "rabbit" group (saturday rides leaving from woodinville), the hills of the pacific (sat. or sun., variable, leaving from downtown seattle) - both rides organized via the cascade bicycle club - and with rides with the eastgate cycling group (saturdays from factoria, some sundays from mercer island), I believe they now organize via a facebook group of the same name.
bikesale.com is the largest team in WA with over 150 team members. The title sponsor is Bothell Bike & Ski, which has an amazing shop. The team is expansive, so there's always someone to ride with on the weekends.

Velo Bike Shop (on Capitol Hill) has a nice little ride starting from their shop at 9 AM on Sundays down to Seward Park and back. Easy pace with a little sprint for the sign at Seward.
They don't have a team/club but they do have open rides, and are nice people.

I love the shop. They are super friendly and never push you spend more than you want. Their service department has always taken great care of our bikes.
