Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - My Next Project

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've always wanted to build my own bike. Just because. Anyway, I think I might start with a red one of these.

Of course by the time I've pulled the funds together, I'll have changed my mind 10 times, but for now, this is it!!! :D

Nice looking bike! Just be aware that building a bike from the frame up always ends up costing a lot more than buying a complete bike...

On the short term. In the long run, you'll end up replacing all the stock parts with the parts you really want, so you're paying for the complete bike and the upgrade parts. I've got a 2008 Cross Check complete, which at this point, the only stock components are the frame/fork/headset, handlebars, shifters and rear hub/spokes.
