Hi all? I'm debating between two bikes that I can get locally. First one is a Speciliazed Sirrus and the second is a Trek FX 7.2. I've ridden the Sirrus already and like how it feels. I'm waiting for the bicycle shop to put the 7.2 together so I can test ride it. I'm already looking to spend $500+ on either since I will need a helmet and a pump. The only difference that I see is a $20 price difference and that one shop offers two years free maintenance. I'm looking at the specs and they both look very similar. Can anyone give some feed back if they have either bicycles, it would be greatly appreciated.

Well anyway....I finally got to test ride the 7.2 FX this afternoon and now I'm torn between the two. Come to find out, the 7.2 is an '09 model and the LBS is selling it for $490, while the Sirrus at the other shop is $510 for an '10 model. From what I've experienced between the two is that the Trek felt more well suited for my body size, 5'10" 250#. I have to go back to the other shop and see how the Sirrus feels once again. I'm more drawn towards the Trek since the shop offers two years of free maintenance.

They're both very comparable. It boils down to whichever one feels best for you.

I agree with mikeshoup. Both bikes are very close to each other. Ride both! Buy the one that makes you smile the most.
Also important - the bike shop - which one is giving you the best service.
I have the Trek 7.3 FX - the bike shop I bought it had the best price but later was really turned off by the owners attitude towards customers and his employees.
I am sorry I gave him any of my business.

Riding them back to back, should make one rise to the top of the list.
(Almost) Just as important, is the quality of the Dealer's customer service, should you have any problems down the road.

AHHHHH! I'm still torn between the two after checking out the Sirrus once again yesterday. Since the time between test riding both bikes was nearly a week apart the first time around, I had to see how comfortable I was on the Sirrus again. This time around, the Sirrus felt a lot more comfortable.
I think I have made my decision, just waiting to pull the trigger on the purchase.

I've never ridden a Sirrus, but many people rave about them. Congratulations on your decision.

I was looking at the same 2 bikes 2 years ago. I am smaller than you 5.6 and 160 lbs-not sure
if that makes a difference, but you mentioned your size. I felt much faster on the Sirrus and
I love it. I use it for errands, occasional commute and hard exercise. It is a great all-around bike

I'll be picking up my Sirrus tomorrow morning :thumb: . The one that the LBS originally had on the floor was sold before I finally decided on it so they had to order another one for me. Been anxious to get it and take it around town since running errands with my v6 truck ain't cutting it.
congrats and enjoy the ride! be sure to post pics! :D
