Nope, I managed to avoid that, but I did look lke a skateboarder. I decided to skip classes this morning and just email my profs. I am not going to concuss myself again.

I have some, that model specifically. They don't work for the van tires, though and the roads are a sheet of ice as well, and the salt trucks are just now getting out. I prefer not to drive or be on the roads when they are a sheet of solid ice. Among other things, I have a stop light right at the bottom of a hill to drive through and I've literally slid through that intersection sideways more than once.

The news was fully of those icy pics this morning. Looks like Iowa got hit pretty hard too.

Usually we only get freezing rain in Dallas, that or sleet, or "wintery mix". Ice storms suck.

Nothing is worse than freezing rain. Or a rainy day followed by sub 30º temps, creating the frequent Black Icefests we get up here in Orange County. I've learned to be VERY careful on mornings like that.

I found 4WD does help get the vehicle moving on ice. Stopping? Not so much. Coming up to a 4 way stop in AK, I downshifted with the intent of minimizing braking approaching the stop sign. For my buffoonery, I was rewarded with the embarrassing result of sliding through the intersection backwards. On the up side, I ended up at the opposing stop sign facing the correct direction and just waited for my turn to go and just tried to make it look like I planned it that way.

In a recent ice storm here, it took 2 hours to cover 9 miles but that was better than the folks that took 8. Yep, freezing rain really does suck.

I will confess to getting a little over confident in my Jeep Wrangler back in the day. Ice store hit overnight and I was supposed to be working the Dallas Boat Show. Went into a downhill left hand corner going just a bit to fast and looped it. Hit the outside curb so hard that the entire jeep got airborne. Took the drivers side tires completely off the rims. Rims dug into the ground and I came very close to rolling it. Needless to say, i was late to the Dallas Boat Show that day.
