Touring - Any of you ride with a child seat?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I currently ride for time and distance on my race bike, and want to bring my son for rides. He loves his CoPilot Limo, but I currently have it on a heavy mountain bike with a high step-over. I am thinking of getting another bike specifically to take him out in the seat, and possibly to ride with him when he gets older. Considered a hybird, but also a touring configuration.
I am curious if any of you carry a child seat on your tours/rides and if so, what bike you prefer.
Thanks.

I cant imagine a child tolerating the movement restriction in a bike seat for more than 30 mins. When I took my daughter in a seat on my bike she used to demand to be let out so she could run beside me. I think they would last longer in a trailer where they could have toys and blakets with them.

My daughter used to love to go for longish rides in the bike seat. She never seemed to mind going a few hours at a clip.
Once she could ride on a little 12 or 16" wheeled bike, we would ride on a MUP until she was ready to stop, then she would ride in the kid seat on my bike. By the time we got back to her bike she was ready to ride back to the car.
I had the kid seat on what would probably be considered a touring bike.
This was quite a while ago as my daughter is almost 24 now.
