You are not anywhere near the only one.

I don't stop if I can help it - slowing down usually puts anything in my way out of my way. If I really need to, I do a quick skip to drop my speed down.

You should really check out http://www.oldskooltrack.com/ to know what you're doing while riding.

I'm assuming you got your street wheels? You riding that thing yet?

no, I'm riding a tubular on the back and a street clincher in the front... no rolling yet!

I figured there were others in here! I'm waiting on a part from Phil wood before I rock the front wheel! My bikes been out of commission lately, but it's back on the road! Oh yeah!

I have the feeling that about 90% of the posters here are fixed. Could be wrong though...

BTW - I loved the feel of my tubulars when I first got my bike. Untill I was stupid and went on a ride w/o rolling up my pants. Threw the chain, which wrapped up around the rear axle and brought it to a sudden and immediate stop. Wore completely through the rubber in about a 4" long 1/2" wide strip where the wheel scraped on the trail.

Weird thing is that I rode another couple of hours on it, and didn't notice till the next morning!

CrankBros Mallets. They're clipless. This winter I'll be going back to BMX pedals.

I ride SS currently, but hope to remedy that by the end of the weekend with the completion of my first fixed gear conversion.

My skid skills are at present graceless and wholly unreliable, so I'll be running a front brake in order to ensure that I stop more often than I fall.

Fixed here...

Fixed for about a year and a half, brakeless for about 6 months...I think I might put a brake back on this coming winter with rain about 6.75 days a week! But we'll still have to see about that! ;)

Oh, and how do I stop? Either a) carefully, or b) DON'T!!

fixed. my rides can be found in the "POST YOUR BIKE!" thread. one's a pink lugged lotus, one's a yellow TIG-welded van tuyl pursuit, the welds on it are super smooth, they look almost non-existant. i have an older lugged steel pinarello roadie. i used to have a romic trackie, but sold it due to it not fitting. i have an old ross MTB frame that i use for trials, and a T-1 BMX.

current projects are:
an old schwinn bigbadass cruiser that i'm going to turn into some kinda urban coaster brake tank MTB thing. i'm gonna put my old 180mm bmx cranks and a 44T bmx sprocket on, with maybe one of the fat 3/16" chains. slapping a 1" threadless headset with a suspension fork, or a rigid triple crown, a la the electra revil 3. not sure what handlebars, currently has the bigass schwinn cruiser bars...might go with some 2" risers, depending on how goofy the whole thing ends up looking. replacing the drivetrain probably sometime this weekend, if i feel like going into work to do it...i should, because if not now, when?

and an older monark cruiser/3-speed style frame that i'm building up my old TNT derringer BMX hubs to sun 27" double-walled, eyletted rims for...new headset, or my old, nasty crusty 105 headset, new pedals, new chain, new brakes, new seat and seatpost. maybe fenders, but probably not, it doesn't rain much here, and the frame already weighs like 15lbs by itself. it's nice though, painted-on logos with a sweet headbadge. building the wheels probably sometime next week.

right now, the schwinn is actually rideable as it is. maybe i'll take it to work all next week.

Well you can stop by: falling over, or getting hit by a car

Well you can stop by: falling over, or getting hit by a car
running out of trail,
getting hit by a deer, or small vamant,
wheel getting stuck in train crossing,
riding on wet pavement and cross painted areas on the pavement,
pedestrians,
car doors,
tree limbs,
throwing a chain,
hit a bump the rear cone nuts loosen, hit one more, make a turn, rear wheel winds up rubbing against the chain stays and comes to a stop,
a stick in the spokes,

Fixed since 2001, picture in the picture post, altho now it has a carbon fork and I built up a set of bolt on clinchers to replace the QR tubulars (five flats in two months was the sew up limit)
