so I just got one of the older 151bcd campagnolo recto Chainrings.It's one of the thicker (7mm thick) pista chainrings. does anyone know anything about them? I only know that the are called a recto from this site http://www.bikecult.com/works/chainring.html. any help would be cool

I think "recto" just means "back-side" in Italian.

i've got a set of 6 or 7 that i use on my bike, but i don't know anything about them. what do you need to know?

Actually, I think it means "right-side" as in the right side crank arm.

recto and verso, is basically right hand page and left hand page.

My university Italian classes are a long way behind me, but I'm pretty sure right and left in Italian are "destra" and "sinistra".

In any case, it has nothing to do with the chainring as far as specifications. And it's not the model name.

Those 151 Pistas are the best chainrings EVER. Super overbuilt, always run true, I can't wear them out, awesome.

Less known is that the Shimano 151 rings are nearly as good, and have a way cool forged construction. BITD I had Campy in the even numbers and Shimano in the odd numbers--just worked out that way.

You are just looking at the two sides of the same chainring. There is a rather wide shoulder on the inside, which does offset the teeth by about 1 mm to the inside. The total width of the chainring at the shoulder is about 7mm, however, the width elsewhere is about 3.6mm, which is the same as other brands.

like I said, just a guess based on the translation of the words verso and recto
