Northern California - Anybody Know Some Nice Road Rides? East Bay.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey guys, so once the new road bike is built, I'll need to get back in shape. Does anybody know a few good 15-20mile loops or out-and-backs from San Leandro?

Thanks! Maybe we can do some meet-up rides if people are up to it.

So many too post, so little time. Do yourself a big favor and go over to Klimb.org (http://www.klimb.org) and download the program. It will give you a lot of route ideas in and around your area.

Good job on getting back in shape.

It seems like there are three versions of the program, which one should I choose for the East Bay? Edit: teehee...nevermind. I'm just bad at looking for stuff.

Yeah, it's going to be great. Haven't ridden regularly since the summer... :(

When I lived in San Leandro I used to take Estudillo to Lake Chabot Rd, to 7 hill Rd, to Redwood Rd, and loop back by the way of Skyline and Golf Links Rd. It is quite hilly, thought. Although if I remember correctly it was closer to 30 miles? It has been a while.

Yeah, I rode that during the summer when I was in my prime. Closer to 35, actually, and Lake Chabot road is essentially all uphill until Castro Valley.

Have you ridden from San Leandro to Alameda via Doolittle Rd. Or you can go to Berkeley from Doolittle.

Well, in my search for some good routes, I came across a local club. Cherry City Cyclists, expect my application in a week. :D

If you don't like hills, avoid their Best of the Bay ride! Every time I've done Sierra, I seem to see their SAG at the top. Some very nice folks in that club.

Welcome to the club! Are you planning on Saturday's ride to Sunol?

I'm not riding as of yet. I'm currently attempting to sell my mountain bike frame in order to buy my road frame. I'll be joining in on the Alameda rides within a month (hopefully).
