I'm just wondering what the general ratio is between miles / kilometres travelled by car or bike for people on this forum.

Do you ride further in your car or on your bike over the year?

Mine has generally been further by car but the figures are getting more and more balanced. My aim is to do far more on the bike each year.

I definitely travel further by bike. I also feel safer and more confident on the bike than in the car, probably because of this. I only use the car on weekends, and then only for short trips to transport heavy loads impractical to carry by bike or for family outings.

Of course my good wife uses the car a lot, so it sorta cancels out my efforts. Then again, most weeks I probably still ride more km's than my wife drives.

Car? Why would one want a car? :D

If you exclude longer journeys (e.g. a weekend break to somewhere in the West Country, then miles done by bike compared to train aren't a lot less.

Has to be by bike, 'cause I don't have a car. That's with me being the driver, though. I'm not sure how many miles I log as a passenger in a car -- it's mostly for long trips with my team or boyfriend so I'm sure those add up.

Unfortunately, it is still winter here with snow, ice and narrow streets, so I use the car more. However, that will change once Spring arrives.

My situation is similar to Allister's. On a typical weekday, my wife uses the car and I cycle, walk, or ride transit. I drive on weekends, primarily to cultural events.
