Foo - COlorado, Montana, or Utah for Spring Break?

I'm trying to make my Spring Break plans (The horrible life of a college student, eh?) So, I'm trying to decide whether to go to Colorado, Montana or Utah. We want to go snowshoeing, and are currently leaning toward Glacier National Park near Kalispell, MT, but are open to suggestions.

Does Utah and Colorado really have that much snow during spring break? That is like March/April right?

Snow here in CO so far this season has really sucked.
In contrast I just saw snow reports for the last day in CA that were incredible. e.g. 29" in Mammoth.

Really? I live in AZ and it has been raining all week and so far we have 25"+ of snow in the mountain. Hopefully going snowboarding tomorrow.

Plenty of snow in Colorado depending on where you want to go. That being said I live in Colorado and I would go to Glacier. Absolutely Spectacular place, second to none. The problem your going have is that everything in the Park will be closed. Roads included. Not much access at that time of year. Kalispell is pretty but nothing like Glacier. I would prefer CO or Utah to Kalispell. Maybe you should go to SLC and snowshoe the backcountry from Alta to Brighton to Park City over Supreme and Guardsman passes. Lots of great backcountry with easy access from SLC and Alta, Brighton, Solitude, etc. Pick a canyon, Little Cottonwood or Big Cottonwood, drive to the top, get out and go.

I live in the Denver area;
Driving 7 hours (one way) to the NM state line for a day of skiing is not an option.

I'll side with Wordbiker about southwestern Colorado. Wolf Creek Pass or the Silverton area would be a great place to snowshoe. There are also lots of other things to do and see in the area. High altitude and avalanche danger needs to be respected, but not a major problem overall.

Another consideration would be Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, each offer nice terrain and beautiful environment.

Breckenridge to Como, CO. The best pie in Colorado, mmmmmmmm, the SW is in Como at the Rail Station Round House. Wheeler Lakes if you want to ice fish.

Hey, I'm a Purdue LA Student now. I want to escape them for a bit is all. :p Not a thing wrong with them, other than that. I'm going with my wife, and since we're in our 50's, Fla Spring Break stuff just doesn't hold any attraction for us. Too noisy, etc. I like wilderness and getting away from the city, etc.

I'm very familiar with Arches and Canyons NP's. I've spent a lot of time in Moab.

I've been to Yellowstone at spring break and January, enjoyed it both times. Chico Hot Springs (between Bozeman and the north entrance) has basic room accommodations + swimming pool heated by the hot springs, so, if the the snow isn't great the pool is.

Be sure to ask about bear activity. Grizzlies have low-blood sugar (or the equivalent) coming out of hibernation.

I found a place in W. Glacier where I can rent a cottage for the week for ~$700.00 and it's right at the gate to Glacier.

Sounds like a blast. Be sure to take adequate emergency supplies when traveling in the backcountry. Like a good boy scout, be prepared.
