I'm a 14-year-old xc rider from Ontario that is just getting into some heavy racing. I was wondering if anyone here could give me advice on a xc bike under $2000. Right now I'm looking at the Kona Kula or the Devinci Phantom. I would prefer a hardtail. Thanks for your advice.

the Kula Delux is nicer and under your budget.

I think he means Canadian currency, so Kula is a good bet for him. Also look into the Stumpjumper.

If you can stretch another couple of hundred bucks the 05 Kula Deluxe is very nice. If not the 04, or 05, Kula is a great bike. The Phantom is a very sweet bike for about 1500. Ride them all and see which one you like best, can't go wrong with any of em.

I'd say go with the Stumpjumper pro if you can afford it, its a full-on XC race rig, far lighter and faster then both the Kona and Devinci. hope that helps!
