Since I do not have the money to actually buy anything this question is mostly out of curiosity but curiosity is a wonderfull thing. I did some research last night and found a few models I have a few quesions about. I descovered that Redline has a touring model that I had never heard of. I descovered from this site that Surly has a very traditional touring model. From this website it seems that the major difference between cyclo cross and touring frames is extended chain stays to give more heal clearance and comfort, and different geometry to make touring bikes more comfortable (and less fast). So my questions. 1, Can you tour comfortably on a cyclo cross bike with a touring fork? I want the bike to function as a true touring bike but mostly as an all round do anything bike. I make my own panniers so I'm not that concerned about heal clearance (I'll figure something out with the design to make more room). 2, Does the Redline cx bike have rear rack braze ons? Does anybody have any experience with any of the four models in question (Redline cx or touring, Surly cx or touring).
Thanks,
scott
