Introductions - Londoner arriving in Vancouver tomorrow

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi everyone - I suppose you're all asleep now - it's nearly 3 pm in Oslo where I'm at the internet cafe in the train station. I get to Vancouver tomorrow night for a ride down to San Diego on my (t)rusty steed, an 18 year old 753 road racer built by Condor of London, with 6 speed Dura Ace. (Anyone here old enough to remember when gear levers were on the downtube?) It would be great to meet a fellow cyclist or two along the way, otherwise I suppose I won't be interacting with anyone but gas station attendants and hotel clerks. So let me know if you want to meet for tea and cakes - that's what British cyclists do! I've just spent a month touring in Norway, doing the fjords and the arctic circle and the Lofoten Islands...the usual thing. Hoping that the West Coast will be just as good!

Sounds nice, I'm over on an Island, called Vancouver.

Way nicer than the mainland, except Whistler (man, I'm gonna get yelled @)
Hope you have a great trip, the Gulf Islands inbetween where you are and Vancouver island is THE stuff around here, oh..and Carmana Valley- Cathedral Grove- biggest old trees you ever saw, ancient first growth timber.

Come back sometime and go island hopping.

Ride safe>jef.
