I have a set of Avid Mechs that are in need of a new set of pads. I see there are several makers of pads now as well as grades and am wondering what is the best way to go. I ride in all kinds of conditions year round. I ride technical XC. I am 200pounds and ride a Diamondback XTS 3.I got them in Dec. of last year and these are the original pads that have about 700 miles on them. the front is more worn than the back(is this normal?,Im thinking it is but not sure) its been real wet here in central va. this year so I believe that is a factor in the wear. I rarely exceed 25mph so the 6" rotor is doing fine as far as heating up. any suggestions would be a great help as I keep running into my LBSs trying to sell what they want to sell and not necessarily what will be best for my bike or not having what I am looking for without having to order it.thanks for the replies and if this has been adressed before please forgive the repetition.
