I have started riding my mountain bike on the road and would like to get slicks.
I currently have 26x1.95 I have been told I could go as low as 26x1.25 or 26x1.5.
Is this correct what do people here recommend.
Thanks

If you don't actually go mtb'ing at all like me, i'd go with the slickets you can get. I have kenda west 26x1.95's and were looking at the 26x1.25's.

So, are you still riding that mountain bike?

Honestly, semi slick road tires aren't all that different. Just go pick something up from your LBS that is a good price and made by a legit company. I have some Bontrager 1.25's and they work fine. Tires are a bit over emphasized sometimes. You'll be fine with a thin semi slick.

I tried a pair of specialized nimbus 1.5 with puncture protection and ran them at 80-85 psi and they were very fast.

I know eh? Might aswell ride thoughs bikes as strong as paper.
I think 1.5 is good. You can go a bit off road with that. I tried it and it works. I tried 1.25 off road for 10sec n almost killed myself

No. It just happens that flyingscotsman is a good friend of mine so I like digging up old threads from time to time just to see if he's paying attention. Doesn't look like he is but I'm just glad you all are so concerned about me.

Well if you had read some other threads you would remember that I gave that bike away.
Currently have the road bike, though I am thinking with some of the trails around here, I may try and see if the wife will let me buy a second bike, but I would not hold my breath on that one.

Depends on what you are persuading her to do...
I love my Bontrager Hanks. They are 26 x 2.25 and look cool. They are like balloon tires and add a lot of cushioning and roll fast too.
