Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Are any of you C&V guys riding in this "race"? I am diabetic myself and was wondering if anyone else on here is as well. If I posted this in the wrong spot, sorry. Here's the link to my webpage. Thanks for your help!

I gave up on the ADA when they dumped the Portland-area "Summit to Surf" ride in favor of a "flat" route. Summit to Surf went up Mt. Hood and then descended 35 miles to Hood River- fantastic ride, fantastic support. Just because I'm diabetic doesn't mean I don't enjoy riding down mountains at 50mph...

I'll be riding for the TdC at Chicago's Bike the Drive on May 30th.
$5.00 down and "only" $195 to go.
I've done Bike the Drive before, but not as a charity ride. Should be more fun riding for a good cause.

I'm doing the full century in CT. My dad was diagnosed in December, and told that he needed insulin....that is a lousy Christmas gift by the way. The CT TdC is the day after his 80th birthday.

I am a diabetc myself and I must tell you that the Tour de Cure is not designed solely for you. Many riders who are diabetic would NOT join a ride that involved climbing a mountain. That is a very selfish attitude.

I've done Long Beach, CA the last three years and Napa the last two. This year they are on the same day; so Napa it is.
My company is the big sponsor of the Napa ride (not a race at all) and they make a big deal of it.
I'll still fundraise for the Long Beach one as that's where my division rides.
As far as the Mt Hood one; they should have left that an option. On the ones I do, we have 3-5 length options - maybe they could have left the Mt in for those who want the challenge.
Way to go Red Riders.
Type 2 riding the century in Colorado again this year.

I will be riding in the Tour De Cure 100 mile event in CT this year. Really looking forward to it. Gathering a smal group of friends that I raced BMX with 30 years ago for the adventure.

Type II here.
Is there a Portland Team here picking up riders or anyone interested in teaming up?
I just signed up for the ride in Saratoga, NY. My sister just passed away due to conditions originally stemming from her diabetes. This will be in her name and I will probably be shedding tears along the route. If anyone here would like to make a donation the link is:

Please let me know if you make a donation. I am going to be adding this information to my homepage and would like to include it. Thanks.
Did Orlando (Lake Nona) last week and Fort DeSoto this week. Depending on how things go, I may do the Jacksonville-St Augustine-Jacksonville 2 day multi century memorial day weekend.
