Long Distance Competition/Ultracycling, Randonneuring and Endurance Cycling - What are some good small bar/stem bags ?

I'm looking for a small bag for cell phone,gel, etc that fits on the bars or stem. Can anyone recomendend some for me ? Thanks

Detours' Goody Bag or Goody Too, http://detours.us/product_info.php?products_id=123 are rather nice. No strap around the stem to deal with.

A bag I thought would be nice, Axiom's Power Bag, http://www.axiomgear.com/products/gear/bags/specialty/power-bag/ has a "handy" side pocket for your cell phone, etc., price is good, but the thing tends to hang to the side when you have a phone in there - weight is off-center.

i run it on road / mtb. i can tap my knee on it when out of the saddle on the road bike.

I have that profile bag and I'm not that pleased with it, the cover isn't great so going over rough terrain smaller items can easily bounce out.

Never used it before, but I spotted the newish Timbuk2 handlebar bag (http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/accessories/bike-accessories/handlebar-bag) that may work for you at the neighborhood REI the other day.

Yeah, I'm still using the Walmart-type handlebar bag. I also have trunk bag, so not everything has to go in the handlebar bag.

I zip tied a very small digital camera bag onto my stem.

Bought it from Walgreens, for less than $5, and it works perfectly to carry my cell phone, ID, and money clip.......

This bag is really nice. It has in addition to the top pocket, a horizontal pocket with flap that can hold a few power bars, tire changing tools, patch kit or what have you. It will store lots of gels, gum (keeps my mouth moist), phone. and very handy for eating on the run.

A friend turned me on to a tennis ball can. It fits nicely in the second water bottle cage, and can hold quite a few things (only slender items, of course) such as a cell phone, cash, snacks, and some tools. Things can rattle a bit, so I usually put my extra tube on the bottom so I don't have to listen to the rattle.

It attaches with one Velcro strap around the head tube and another that holds the two halves together to keep them from flopping around. It will however lean to one side if it is loaded unevenly, but I solved that by sewing a piece of Velcro to the part that sits on the top tube and taping the other half of the Velcro to the top tube. I also cut a piece out of the top of the cell phone pocket so that I can see the screen more easily.

I love it, but haven't had it very long so I can't speak to the durability- but it seems sturdy enough. I find it much more handy than a bento box.

I've got one of those and love it, too. The cell phone holder thing on the top tube part works perfect for holding a Nuun or Zym tube.
I have the problem with it sitting uneven - great idea c.miller, i'll try that.

I rode a 200k sunday and packed 4 cliff bars, 5 Accell Gels, a packet of Boudreaux's, and had room to squeeze a couple more things in if needed.

Style wise it's not the best, but it works.

I don't have a problem at all with the knees, and while smaller in capacity, it looks better than the handlebar purse (as my buddy calls it). In our Texas 'winters' I still need a handlebar bag to store cold weather gear as the day warms up.

Jandd bags front and back. Front bag can be used as a saddle bag as well.
