Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Bent chain ring

I have a bent chain ring on my bike, but luckly its the 25t ring. When I rode Thursday night, I went to shift down to it climb a good hill and it kept throwing the chain and I thought it was the derailleur. After look at it Friday I notice it was bent so I took it to the LBS and she was able to straighten it out. I rode yesterday, and went to shift down to it and it threw the chain. So i walked the bike up the hill since it was a group ride. I rode again today and I went to shift back to the granny gear and it threw the chain again. I noticed that the ring is bent again. Should I replace it or try to have it straightened out again? I rarely use it but its nice to have on steep hills.

Nope not cross chaining. I guess that this is a blessing in disguise cause I was looking at changing the crank rings out before long. I was looking at keeping the 25, getting a 36 or 38 and then getting a 48. I currently have a 25-42-50 setup right now.

+1 on this idea, or go even lower. I'm running a 46-36-26 triple on one of my bikes, and it's really handy (I live in the Sierra Nevada, with 7000+ foot passes all around, and I'm an aging Clyde). The standard-these-days 53-39-30 is useless for riders who need a triple to begin with.
FWIW, straightening a bent tooth isn't rocket surgery. You can do it with a Crescent wrench. But it's probably a symptom, not a cause, so you need to figure out what the underlying problem is.

LOL. We love to buy stuff for our bikes don't we? Notice when our cars break down we never view it as a "blessing"? Yup, I'd say you're a true cyclist!

Well It was a blessing when my turbo went out on my truck cause I got to get a better turbo. Yeah the $1000, in repairs, and the two days of working on it wasnt fun, but It was sure worth it. :)
