First mountain bike purchased, a cube pro reaction hardtail with HS33's http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/catalog/large/915100-16.jpg, only cost me about 800 euro max as we have a bike to work scheme where you pay no tax on it woo hoo!
Know the image has the dics but the rest is the same. I gotta say its a lot more fun to ride that the road bike, took a ride around some easy enough stuff as I had my son with me.
So any good resources in regards to riding skills out there? not a total idiot as have been racing road bikes for a few years, but this brings news skills and dangers...also as he is only 10 and going to be riding with me a lot do you have any advice as to protective gear for him? just going to be trails riding for now no mad downhill stuff yet...

I didn't know they were spec'ing bikes like this with hydro-rim brakes

those rocket ron tires are pretty much the best tire ever molded.

it looks way faster than anything dminor rides too :thumb:

For your son, just a helmet and a pair of gloves should do the trick right now. Ride at his pace and let him have fun while you're out. Stop along the way and session things like small jumps and tricky sections.....he'll be hooked.

Cheers, wasn't sure over his "normal" bike helmet vc a full face...he's a good looking kid (like his dad) and don't want him to get too disfigured...are gum shields etc a good idea? me I am old enough to not care if I lose a tooth or two or get more scars but he's got a bit of a way to go...

If you're just trail riding it should be all good. My son started with me when he was 9,he's 17 now and other that a few "glory marks" on the legs he's good to go. If your son wants to move into more DH/FR type riding,a FF helmet and a some armor would be a good idea.
