I've just bought a used Specialized Tarmac and would like to getting a fitting. I'm looking for more than the basic new bike fit that you get free with a bike purchase from a LBS, but not the full blow service offered by say the Bike Barn fit studio downtown.
Any experience, recommendations or thoughts would be appreciated. I live in Cinco Ranch so West side preferred.
Thanks guys :thumb:

Go see Jason at the Memorial City Sun & Ski. Don't know how much they charge for a fitting but sure it's minimal and he'll take care of you.

Thanks guys I appreciate the recommendations, please keep them coming.
I know you can get fit at the Bike Barn on Mason Rd. Mine took some time and was well worth it.

I ended up going to Bike Barn in Katy and got fitted by Eddie. He did listened to my problems, was very patient and generally provided excellent service. Highly recommended.

Also see Tad Hughes - he's the guy who set up Bike Barn's custom fit studio. He just started his own venture now http://tadhughescustom.com/

I meet Tad this past Saturday at a Houston Cycle Centers hills clinic in Fayetteville. He was really nice and is a master of his craft. He hosted a fit session and went over some of the small details on what changes he makes. The interaction between the rider and bike is important.
He is running a special on his dynamic fitting of $150 - for a 2 hour session. He suggested that I get rid of my SPD pedals and MTB shoes on my road bike and gave me very good reason why. I will hopefully be able to get a fit from Tad this spring.

OK. Just for reference, I've been fitted before, but not in quite a while and I've made adjustments to my bike/shoes since then. I've also been working on flexibility for the last few months and have made some real progress.
I didn't have any specific issues but felt I could probably increase my performance with the help of an expert.
The basic gist of the fit was an analysis of my gear - to see what had been done in the past, analysis of my physical conditions - any asymmetries/problems both on and off the bike, then computer analysis of my riding, and finally adjustments and re-checking my riding.
The whole thing took about 2.5 hrs and tad identified several dead spots in my pedal stoke and asymmetry with my back/hips and feet. He also opened up hip angle to help me bring my foot around a dead spot in my pedal stroke. Strategic adjustments of the cleats and saddle were all it took to fix everything.
The very first time I got a fit it felt like I went from riding a bike to riding a machine. Everything felt very machinelike (in a very good way). With this appointment I regained that feeling again. A great experience overall, and would highly recommend. The issues with my feet are something that 99% of bike shops and bike store employees would completely overlook and Tad clearly has an eye for detail cause he caught it immediately.
Edit - oh and shims under my cleats too

Tad's MS150 special ends on April 16th, so if you want a high tech 3D fitting your time is running out. I plan to see Tad, but will wait till summer time.

Thanks for this info. If I decide to go for it, hope I can fit it in before the 16th and save $100.
