Amazing how easy it is to scare a bear, ain't it?

When I was at Purdue I had a Chem TA who grew up in Alaska.
She told us the story of how one day a polar bear wandered into the back yard,
and their dumb cat was out there stalking it.

The cat can probably out quick the bear unless it gets backed into a corner, with nowhere to run. Out in the open, I doubt if a bear can catch a cat that's hauling bootay.

I had a calico that grew tired of the barking from our Rotie blue heeler mix. She went to his run and fought him through the fence until we broke them up. She lost claws off both front feet, but she wasnt' leaving the fight.

My GF's ex-husband had two Rotties that were terrified of her calico Merp. Merp would lie right in the middle of the dog bed and the dog would just sit there and cryyyyyyyyyyyy and do nothing about the cat in the middle of the dog bed...

Speaking of dogs that have had enough... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2LfBzPX6iU)

Any new dog that came into our house learned quickly that our orange tabby had claws. Invariably they'd come around with one sticking out of the tip of their nose.

I was on the porch one evening when a guy came down the street with a Yorkie on leash. One of my cats popped out of the flower bed and dropped into crouch mode. She started the low crawl across the open grass toward the dog. The owner saw her and just stood there. I said "She may jump on that dog" He still just stood there...not really believing me. About 3/4 of the way across the grass she broke into a sprint for the yorkie. Just in time he snatched the dog up by the leash and caught it in his arms and my cat pulled up short...He wrenched that poor dogs neck bigtime but it definately saved him a proper azz whoopin'.

^^Please explain to me how that is any different from someone not properly containing their dogs (ie harming other people's pets/property in a public area).

If my dog did that they would put it down.

You mean they would put your dog down for getting whipped by a cat?? :twitchy:

It isn't...but I dare say it's not as prevalent.

Number Four attacked a deer in the front yard.
I still don't know if he thought the deer was a dog he wanted to play with or if 4 was planning on killing the deer and leaving the carcass on the front porch where he lays out his squirrels and chipmunk prey.

has #4 managed to bring you a still 1/2 alive copperhead yet?
That was when I decided I had no real use for cats.
