I have a set of leather Pearl Izumi leather shoes w/ carbon soles that need to be washed. Don't think I can throw them into the washer and have the leather survive. Yet the funky odor needs to go away!

These shoes have been hosed off many times, but daily riding / sweating is starting to take its toll.

Wrap a dryer sheet around an old toothbrush and carefully scrub every inch of the shoes.

If it's cloth based, then I would use the same detergent as for clothes. Now since this is a shoe, I'd also mix Lysol for disinfecting the insides of the shoe! heck, I'd let the shoes soak overnight in a bucket of the mix. :) Then scrub it down with a brush. Rinse. Air dry.
