Hi I'm a 17 Year Old Racer looking to join a a cycling club team for the next two years.

Can anyone tell me what they know about The San Jose Bicycle Club and their Junior team?

How about All Sport Team Swift...does anyone know about them?

I'm completely new to cycling teams and i've heard that some teams lend a bike for training and racing, apart from getting equipment from other sponsors. How common is that?

Finally, can some people tell me about any other teams they know of that are actually accepting any potential members, and not self-recruiting members?

Thanks!

I joined SJBC recently (I'm a 35+, not a junior), and from what I've seen so far, SJBC has a very good juniors program. In case you haven't checked it out, here's a link to the site: http://www.teamsanjose.org/juniors/ Andrew Lanier is listed as program coordinator in the upper left, so you can click on his name and email him whatever questions you have.

Tiene Duro is the Bay Area's premier junior team. I know someone on it, but I've never actually ridden with her.

Team Fremont FFBC p/b Chipotle has started up a juniors program this year. We have a small group currently but are looking to add more members. If interested you can contact the Team President Garry Birch at prez1@fremontraceteam.org.
We will be out at the Early Bird Crit this weekend if you would like to talk to someone in person.

SJBC has a great Juniors program (from what I can see at the track). My friend's son is member of Team Swift and he really likes it. I think the question is what is easier for you, South Bay or North Bay?

Or East Bay in the case of Tiene Duro.

What kind of Junior specific support are you looking for besides riding with other juniors and maybe some junior-specific physiological training guidelines?
Peninsula Velo is actively looking for more racers (www.penvelo.org)

Well I don't really mind I just want a fun and supportive team. Does Peninsula Velo accept 17 year olds as Cat5?
