Northern California - Is anyone headed to the Folsom or Call Aggie Criterium This Weekend? Any Good?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Never been to neither one, just wondering how there are or which one’s better. Who draws a bigger crowd. Any comments or inputs?

I'll be at both. Not sure who draws the bigger crowd (the Folsom crit is new). The Early Bird crit will be going on Sunday too, so Cal Aggie will be competing with them. With the weather looking good, I'm sure there will be a lot of day-of registrations.
The Folsom course is less technical. The Cal Aggie course has a tricky chicane - but it's in a nice setting (Land Park).
FYI - there's a thread in the racing forum... http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?617497-Folsom-Cal-Aggie-crits

Hey Ryan... I'll try to make it out to them. Are you racing the Elite 4 or the 30+ 3/4 in Folsom? If it's the Elite 4, I will probably miss it. A little too early for me, bra!
I will be spectating. I'm not in race-shape yet.

I am doing the 4 and the 30+ 3/4, probably a mistake on my part, but hey what is an extra 10.00 :thumb:
Folsom is a big, wide office park crit. Kind of D-shaped. A good first of the season crit.
CalAggie is longer (almost a circuit race distance) and a bit more technical. It has two chicanes on the backside that will string things out.
Unfortunately, I can't do Folsom but I'll be doing the Cat 3 and Masters P123 back to back at CalAggie. My expectations are not high--just treating it as training.

Remember, the Cal Aggie Crit is THE fundraiser for the Cal Aggie Cycling team for the year. Racing this race will help support the talented collegiate cyclist to vie for another Conference and National Title.
Pending what my bride decides to do on Saturday, I may ride up to watch. Likely I'll be on my blue Colnago. Look for me and say hi!
Weather report is showers tomorrow, so I may stay home. If I go, I'll be on my black bike instead. Not taking the blue one out in the wet.

I just came back from the folsom crit. The e5 race was clean and the weather looks great. If you're thinking about going to check it out you should. I'll be going back around 2pm to watch the m35+ and pro 1/2 races.
wookie: how'd you do?
I raced twice at Cal Aggie: Used the Cat 3 as a warm-up. In the M123, I lined up and eventually lost to local legend/reality TV star Chad Gerlach.

You're an animal!!! Wooooo!
I pray that fatherhood was the missing link in that guy's life. Something to truly live for. :thumb:
