I would like some glasses for night riding. I assume clear is the best option for lens color (?), but I was also hoping to cut down on glare from headlights with them. Would a polarized lens help this? Any other ideas?

I've got similar Tifosi sunglasses with brown, amber and clear lenses. Right now, I have the clear lenses in them now for the dreary winter days and night riding. Dunno if a polarized clear lens will cut down on headlight glare.

Yellow for night riding. Clear for foggy conditions.
I also use yellow for night riding. It works great.

Pyramex Ztek in clear or amber. They cost less than $5 a pair, you can order them by the dozen (if you want) for less than $40, they're shatterproof polycarbonate, and make awesome riding glasses.
Walmart sells a pretty good quality yellow shooting safety glasses from Remington, cheap.

Polarizing filters will not filter on coming light. The filter suppresses scattered reflected light. A lens with an optical coating can transmit a greater percentage of the light passing through - not reflect and there by scatter it on the lens surface - giving better contrast and there by detail to the scene. Some higher end glasses have a coating like this. Keeping a uncoated one clean of film from oily sweat, fog by using a lens cleaning solution or fogging it with your breath and cleaning it with a microfiber cloth is the least expensive way.
