Has anybody else noticed that alot of speed-junky-cyclist are also enthusiats of sports cars? Lance had his Camaro IROC Z and some Porsche at a point. I've noticed a few members on the forum with some nice rides. Porsche, M5, and an Evo I've notice just crusin around. Anybody have pics of their bikes + cars??

not in the same pic but yeah they are both fast.
Hey convert,
Where do you put the front wheels to your bikes with that rack? Any way to mount them up top with the bikes? And is that a 2 bike rack or can you get a 4 bike adapter up there?
I'm going to be car shopping in the next 6 months... I used to drive a slammed Acura, but its so useless. I was thinking of getting an element but I'd like something a little nicer. I've looked at suabru's but I don't know...the WRX is so nice but I didn't think you could carry bikes good on that.
Any more info on that rack? Dealer installed? Did you have to drill holes in the roof? etc; etc; ?
Thanks...
If anyone wants to see pics of my last car I'll put them up...but it is my ex-car now I just drive whatevers cheap and runs, I just moved and my commute is 110KM's each way to work. So I'm putting to many miles on anything thats nice...so I'll be switching jobs soon. Anyway let me know convert!
Thanks,
Chad

Chad, I got the setup at my LBS. They installed the whole thing for me. No drilling or anything (just four clamp things that grab under the roofline). Now that its assembled, I can take off the whole thing in about 1 minute/ put it back on in 10. Works awesome. About the wheels, I used to store them in the trunk but have bought two wheel carriers for the top (basically just a upside down fork). They fit in between the bikes nicely. You can only fit 2 bikes up there mostly due to the handlebars.
My only gripe is that Thule doesn't give a G-force rating for the rack! haha.

Does it take 1 person to put back on or two?
It didn't mess up the car at all? What was involved when they were installing it (I'm assuming you watched them...that car is worth about 50K$ CDN I'm assuming you don't let it out of your sight :) )
And how careful do you actually have to drive with the bikes up there? If you swing a hard right at a good speed do the bikes ermm...get messed up at all? Does anything bend?

I have my Colnago and the Ferrari Modena in my garage. Like peanut butter and jelly.....in my dreams :D
I also noticed a number of bike owners are also Subaru drivers. Nothing to do with Lance, i guess, but an interesting thing i noticed. If i have to read into it, I guess its being different.
Me, Lemond and Passat.

well, to put it back to is preferable but not needed. The rack is only in contact with the car through 4 soft and spongy parts so no damage at all is done. To install it they basically have to do some slight assembly of the clamps, attach the bars, put the actual bike holders on the bars. It's all pretty straightforward if you were gonna do it yourslef. I've hauled some ass with the bikes on top and nothing more than a shimmy. Seems to hold very tightly. I haven't pushed anything to the limits cause the potential damage wouldn't be worth it.

My "beater" is a 2001 Honda Prelude and I own a 1990 Mazda RX-7 Turbo that has around 300 HP.
My human-powered racer is a Specialized Allez Elite. :)
Don't have a car, but I do have a Trek 4900 MTB and a Lemond Poprad CX, set up with road wheels and tires.
