I just bought a Specialized Expedition Sport and am a beginning rider. I would like to evolve to a road bike once my aerobelly disappears. Is there a good cycling book for beginners that covers topics like technique, equipment, components, training, etiquette, etc.? I did a search on this forum and didn't see this topic so if this has been asked before, my apologies.

Note to self: spellcheck the thread title before posting. :o

I don't know of any books that cover pack etiquette or the like. A very good book for the training, nutrition and comfort side is "The Long Distance Cyclists' Handbook" by Simon Doughty.

Hi,
a good place to start is Effective Cycling by Forrester. Try a interlibrary loan.

If you're 50 or older (like me) an excellent book to pick up is Cycling Past 50 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0880117370/qid=1092603060/sr=ka-1/ref=pd_ka_1/002-3505887-4988816).

Excellent information for "older" cyclists!

Well, I'm 46 so I can't read that book for four more years. :D
