Been cycling for about 4 months now and love it but am without a good light. I have a Zefal but doesnt do anything for seeing at night. Its strobe ability does help with being seen. My budget is $50, I could go a bit more if need be.

I have been looking at the Solarforce L2 (http://www.sbflashlights.com/Solarforce-Lights/Solarforce-L2-p4.html), with one 18650 and charger which comes to $52.

However I am not really sure about what drop in to get and at what mode, any help would be appreciated.

Also any suggestions on alternatives would be nice also.

Thanks

1 Mode Dropin 6V-18V
18650 Li-ion battery
Charger

I answered you in the other thread.

Get the 4.2V R2 dropin. I prefer the 5 mode as I use strobe during the daytime.

Any P-60 module should work. This is the newest Cree LED. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.32954

There is actually some debate as to whether that's really an R5, and even if it is it won't be very bright on one 18650 as it's rated to 18V.

You could, but the SolarForce ones are very good quality for the price. An UltraFire one of the same LED would be a step down in quality in my opinion.

I went with the purple 5 mode R2 cree.
