The Forum has at least one other member from Sarasota..But seems MTN biking reins in Sarasota...I used to live there. Question, should I ever get back..?
How is the riding down Tamiami Trail towards Venice? Recall it to be pretty busy? Are there bike lanes now.? Riding through Manasota Key must be pretty good, as I last remember the Key to be?
There must be a cycling club in Sarasota?

I'm gonna be in Sarasota visiting family at Thanksgiving. I'm planning on doing a couple of rides -- haven't ridden there yet. I think one is going to link the islands, go over some bridges, looks like fun riding along the gulf and a serious contrast to the mountains of colorado.

Freestyle... I live in S Venice. New to this road biking thing but maybe we can hook up. Bought a Cannondale R600 in June & trying to get my cycling legs.

Hi Freestyle,
I work in Sarasota and live near Lakewood Ranch. We do most of our riding on Lakewood Ranch Blvd. from Interstate 64 down to Fruitville. The ride up Longboat Key is also very nice. Send me a private message and we can discuss a ride in the near future.

Greets to all. I used to live in Sarasota when I went to school at Ringling.. I used to do laps around the airport.. pretty nice route, can get some good speed on flats. and not too much traffic.

Hey Guys,
I'm also in Lakewood Ranch, work in Sarasota and will ride just about anywhere. Mondays and Wednesdays there is a group ride in Venice that leaves from the Bank at Sunset Beach and 41. Great ride, very friendly people and a great couple that are awesome. I think they leave at 6:00 p.m.
Tues/Thur is the BnJ ride from their shop. BIG RIDE, up to 100 people. Splits into smaller groups of varying speed. May NOT be a great experience for a newbie though. Can be intimidating!
Every Sunday morning there is a 10k Time Trial in Lakewood Ranch put on by University Bikes (call Eric, Steve or Walter) at 359-1515 for sign-up and more info.
Every other Sunday, I meet people at University Bikes and we caravan for some mountain biking at Alafia or Carter Road.
