Hey all :

Went riding w/ Gilby and Naisme last night while everyone was sleeping. It was a blast. I love the trails when you don't see anyone...

So, any of you Minneapolis/St. Paul fixers interested in getting some weekend rides together?

Well yeah...actually for the past year there has been a steady crew of us doing rides on
saturday nights. Of course it ain't a fixed/single only group...just a bunch of people on bikes
going fast or slow or getting lost and maybe drinking too much.

So yeah, come on along...if ya can find us....hehea

You know, finding you would be a lot easier if you told me where you guys start out, and uh, maybe when too so I don't end up getting too drunk before you show up...

Hell yeah I should have told you and Phil about Saturday ride a long time ago. I live for it. I can't make it every Saturday anymore due to work, but From your personality you would fit right in. We meet at Mcdonald's in Dinkytown 9:00 leave around 9:30 and basiclly go where ever someone with a agenda wants to go.Very bar friendly as we seem to end up at a lot of VFW's in suburbs. As for me I allway's bring alot of beer as we generally ride somewhat hard and make alot of beer stops. Fun as hell, good people.

Hmm... That does sound like fun. Now do I have to drink beer, or can I bring my flask :) Hopefully I'll see you all next week.

Cool - anyone else? Goatmeal? You should be done with work by then, right? I know you have to work in the morning, but you could just leave the group early if you needed...

Last Saturday was the inaugural ride for my new Bikes at Work model 32 trailer. I brought along two cases of beer with 10 lbs. of ice. It was nice having a cold brew after a few hours of riding, but uphill was exactly like you'd think: slow and hard work. I'm out next week but will be back on a faster ride on the 28th. - Alec

I hope it was PBR. This sounds like exactly the type of ride I'm lookin for :)

There's a ride listed in Sept National Geographic Adventure, they meet at the Lake Harriet bandshell at 9, and go single tracking on Wenesday nights, could be fun to build up an MTB SS or FG or a flip flop hub.
I can't do 9p due to my job. I'm off at midnight if anyone's interested in a third shift ride.

Wenesday ride is more serious than saturday, very fast paced mtb rides-crazy bike any where-back yards-down stairs-ride fast or get dropped kind of ride-Saturday's there is allway's a beer stop where the faster rider's wait for those who like to ride slower.

I have the feeling that Naisme might end up finding a few of us on the side of the road passed out on his commute home :)

I was wondering about some of the pods I'd seen out there.

Where do they ride single track around lake harriet? All I can think of are short stretches along minnehaha, usually on opposite side from paved path; nothing too cool.

Don't know if I can make it, I have been working too d@mn much lately. This is serious, this week I am working 84 hours. Normally I put in 12 hours a day for 5 days a week, but this week I don't get a day off due to my boss's vacation which means I am more tired right now than I have ever been in my life. Whats worse is that my next day off isn't till next tuesday, so all together I have to work about 132 hours without a day off. Don't mean to complain too much, but except for commuting, I don't have much energy left. Give me a little while to recover and I will drink all ya all under the table, except perhaps HereNT...

I think I might just drag my ass up there from Chicago. This place feels like a cigar ash-ridden back seat of a taxi cab lately...f-ing oppressive. I need a change. Promise to get me drunk and tired, and I might just kidnap skitbraviking too.

Dunno about tired, but I could get you drunk... Got no floor space, though...

$hit you could stay with me, although depending on the day I probably wont get to see you much. Pero me casa es su casa.

Actually I only live about 4 miles from the amtrack station if you wanted to ride to my house, Amtrack is a fun way to go from Chi to Minn...

I can offer a couple futon mats on an apartment floor in St. Paul, and I know some rides that'll get you tired.
I've got Saturday off, so I'm thinking of joining y'all, but I'm not a drinker, just out for the ride and getting to know some of the faces I pass.
As for the single track, I think they were talking about Wirth Park, you can single track around Cedar cross the tracks follow some awesome single track to where Theo Wirth crosses 394, then your in like flint in Wirth Park.
The actual quote is: "Dozens of cyclists meet at the Lake Harriet band shell around 9 p.m. each Wednesday night, ready for anything; full contact derbying, snowstorms (the rides happen year round), or screaming, pitch-black singletrack." This under the picture and bio blurb about a local Gene "Geno" Oberpiller bike impresrio, who is quoted as saying "Right now, urban assault riding on 20-inch BMX bikes is huge." He runs One on One Bicycle Studio.
