With the exception of Mobasa Kenya.........Singapore would be the last place I ever re-visited.

Why? Like Greg, I thought that Singapore was one of the safest places in the world.

I predict that someone (possibly from some quasi-govt agency) will provide Greg Browning a replacement, so as to not allow the country to "lose face".

What does this story have to do with folding bikes anyway?

if he rode a folding bike and took it with him where ever he goes...it would never gotten stolen...lol.

but isn't singapore one of the most crime free city in the world? i remember several years ago, an american spitout his chewing gum and he was sentenced to some whip lashing?

"Low Crime is not No Crime"

Singapore is relatively safe but bike/wheel theft is rather rampant.

If you can't afford to lose your bike, never leave it unattended outside, locked or not.

Michael Fay was caned for vandalism and theft. Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_P._Fay

I guess Greg got overconfident and undercautious being in Singapore. If they whip you for chewing gum you'd think they'd have the death penalty for bike theft.

Amazing. What are the chances of the police finding and returning a stolen bike here?

Werewolf, chances here are pretty slim.

I'm sure it helped tremendously that Greg's plight was published by the press.
And East Coast Park, the place where his bike was found, is frequented by many a bike enthusiast that are in the know.
