It's not fancy, it's a Giant Transport. I bought it for commuting back and forth to work, eventually touring and I am excited! I will pick it up tomorrow after the bike shop puts new peddles on it, a new odometer, etc and a light on it. It has butterfly handlebars which I am really happy about. Now I want to go on a tour!

WooHoo! I know the feeling since I just got a new bike myself! Of course, if it would ever stop snowing or raining or blowing frigid winds, I'd be a lot more excited. Hope you have better weather where you are so that you can enjoy it!

The LBS had a bike with the bars you describe and both a front and rear rack. I was very impressed with the looks and design of this bike. The kind of rack they were using folded out for wider packages and looked like it would make a great utility bike. I am sure you could use it for touring as well. It looks like they dropped the particular model I was looking at but the example they have on their web site gives the general idea. What color did you get? Looking forward to seeing it at the next coffee ride.

That's it. It is the dx model, no disc brakes. So far, I love the butterfly bars. It's British Racing Green, just like the MGB I never got. Sorry about the lack of pics, I am a techie dinosaur, my blackberry camera won't send my pics anywhere with regularity, but I will try.

That is a great looking bike... go anywhere, do anything, and carry the world along for the ride. I looked online and saw the BRG one like you bought. Great color (one of my gf's in college had a BRG MGB...wonder where she is now...45 years later?... er... never mind).

Enjoy that bike.

Me too! I went to a car show a couple of years ago where there were two of them.

My RANS Stratus bike is a dark green with metallic sparkles in it. Not BRG but I like it a lot.

I saw Sue's bike at the LBS today. Should have snapped a picture but I forgot. I thought about sneeking it out for a ride but didn't want to take a chance on her catching me. If I were going to buy a utility bike that would be up there on my list.

Bob! You can ride her at the coffee ride! Picked her up yesterday, rode her home even tho my lungs burned (I have been sick) riding her to work today because the rain is supposed to hold off. My old bike (Raleigh 3.0 comfort bike) is going to be my rain bike. And I have a Specialized Myka with full suspension on the way. Going from 1 bike to 3 in the blink of an eye. Yikes. Keith did not want me to buy the transport, but Giant doesn't make it anymore. LBS had two, and then a couple of weeks ago sold one of them. It was reduced in price since it is a 2008 model, and anything close was a lot more $$. So I put it on layaway after the LAST coffee ride, and then sold my kayak (which I hadn't paddled in over a year) to pay for it so Keith could accept the purchase :-) He knows how smitten I am with this bike. So smitten she will probably end up with a name :-)

Congratulations Sue. But now you have put the pressure on me. I only have three bikes and you caught me in one swift move. I almost bought bars like that for my Trek. They are called Trekking bars and I thought they looked pretty comfortable.

A Man-Or woman- after my own heart. Those MGB's are two a penny over here but Healey 3,000's are still catching eyes.

When I started driving- all my mates had sports cars. Healey 3000's or 100/6's- Mg Midgets- Triumph TR4's etc. I had to make do with an Austin Healey Sprite- but at least I got the right model- The Mk 1 Frogeye.

But back to the bike. Still need pics and If it is on the Sunday ride perhaps Bob can help you out.

I will work on getting pictures :-) My brother had a bug eyed sprite that we travelled across the US in one time many years ago. For the first time I have something in BRG. I love that bike right down to the compass and bell!
