Hi!
I was wondering if anybody knew any beginner riding trails in Suffolk County on Long Island. Something near East Setauket or Stony Brook. I want to start riding on trails in the spring.
Thanks!

Probably 120 miles of mt. bike trails at a dozen locations.

Note that some - Calverton, Eastport and Rocky Point require permits from the State of NY Dept. of Enviromental Conservation (DEC), which is located at SUNY Stony Brook. The permits are good for 3 years ? and are free. Also note that Rocky Point is closed till 4/1 with Eastport closed till tomorrow.

The beginner trails are Calverton and Eastport. East Setauket and Glacier Ridge are more intermediate to advanced. Ditto Stilwell. Greenbelt and Bethpage are mostly beginner.

The CLIMB forum has tons of info on trail conditions, new routes, etc...
