I'm planning on doing hill repeats in Silverado Canyon and Maple Springs tomorrow. I'm wondering if anyone has been up there today. If so, how were the water crossings?

Last weekend I was up in Silverado Canyon. The gate was closed at Maple Springs, and only non-motorized users were allowed in. A few mountain bikers I spoke with said that the water crossings were flowing.

I'm hoping the flow will have subsided by tomorrow.

I rode up it on Thursday the 28th. Maple Springs was closed to vehicles, so I had the road all to myself aside from a couple of people out walking. And I'm glad I had the whole road as there is a lot of debris from the hillside all over the road in some sections. That said, if you pick your path the ascent is mostly pretty good. Descent will be slow. Stream crossings were not bad with respect to water flow. 4 inches deep at worst. Low enough flow that there is no concern of the water sweeping you away or something. The biggest obstacle is that one of the crossing has a lead up of 1-2 inch deep mud. An annoyance but I was able to get through.

Basically, you will be able to ride all the way to the dirt section but it will be slower going and more annoying than you are used to. Strong tires would help too.

I ended up going yesterday morning. I didn't go past the gate though. Some MTB riders told me the water was ankle deep, so I didn't bother. I ended up climbing Silverado Canyon twice before heading back to the car.
