Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm thinking about this for enduring freezing Minnesota rides:

I use a North Face Extreme ski Jacket with a removable down liner, and an integrated hood. The most amazing jacket I've ever owned, extremely comfortable, soft and super warm. In the '90s they were $250+, kinda like this one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-North-Face-Extreme-Snow-Ski-Rain-Jacket-M-90s_W0QQitemZ130364175224QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_CSA_MC_Outerwear?hash=item1e5a4f7378
Note: THis is not my jacket.
If you sweat alot, maybe this approach may be too much for you. But a soft Gortex hood with visor lip is a very big plus in my experience.
