Has anyone ridden the Binachi Virata? I am looking for a frame to build up and this one looks good but I would like to hear from anyone who has any practical experience with this frame. My LBS doesn’t have one to test ride. Thanks in advance for the advice.
I've had mine for a couple of months now, and I absolutely love it! It is the sweetest ride of anything I've ever ridden. I don't claim to be an expert rider, and everyone is different, so I would still suggest you try an ride one.
This bike has an incredibly distinctive ride. It is both smooth and lively. I am a larger rider (205 lbs.), and I was looking to upgrade my full Al. bike with something that would be more forgiving on longer rides. I was attempting to stay around $1600, and looking mostly at the Vigorelli and Veloce. I decided to test ride the Virata just for comparison. That was a mistake ;) I ended up blowing my budget and going home with my new Virata that day!
This bike feels very easy to go fast on. It almost seems to float just above the road surface, and is easy to maintain speed. The frame feels very lively as well. The bike is plenty stiff and does a great job on climbs. The materials used for the frame are top notch steel (Dedaccai EOM) and Dedaccai carbon stays. Build quality seems very good. I don't know of another bike in this price range that uses the Dedacciai EOM steel (one of the best on the market).
All in all, I couldn't be happier with my Virata. I highly recommend it!
Oh, and just noticed another thing... I bet you will love the color :D
I call the color of mine "Titan" blue, but I'm sure yours will be Carolina blue.
I just brought home my Virata yesterday. I'm thrilled to have it. I've only test rode it once but it feels very good. My opinion, it's a great buy for the money. I hear next years Vigorelli may be $1,800. So, I'm considering my Virata is a real deal.
Good luck!!
