Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Mtn Bike w/ Eyelets for Rear Rack?

Which manufacturers/models for MTN bikes have both front and rear eyelets?

First preference is a rear rack. Second preference is fenders, but can live without.

Bike will be used for paved paths and mtn bike trails as well.

Rear eyelets? Just about any aluminum hardtail. Front eyelets? Well, the issue with front eyelets on a mountain bike is the suspension fork. Why is this a problem? Well the issue with using a traditional front fender like a Planet Bike Cascadia (formerly Freddie) on a suspension fork is the amount of clearance between the tire and the crown of the fork. Even if you had a long enough hoop to mount to the crown, when you hit a bump the tire would smash into the fender. You can look into older non suspension bikes, but I don't think much of anything new will have front eyelets stock. Maybe the Surley Karate Monkey.

However, they do make front racks for suspension forks, they just mount differently. Without looking one up I believe they mount to your V-brake bosses. They do make mountain bike fenders which claim to do a passable job.

Particular front rack mounts for suspension forks are made by Old Man Mountain (http://www.oldmanmountain.com/Pages/RackPages/FrontRacks.html). They attach via the axle and connect to the brake bosses. Pretty slick, but a little pricey.

I was building up a vintage nishiki bushwhacker as a touring bike because it had front and rear double eyelets. I've seen a lot of older mtn bikes with that feature at our co-op. Maybe look into some used frames/

they do make clip on fenders that won't interfere with your suspension.

thanks, I've had it since 'o2, but it's just now getting all the fun stuff, racks, panniers, and fenders.

Yep, I use low riders made for sus forks, (Delta maybe), and they use the bosses as one mounting point. Had on a SID and a Manitou, no problems whatsoever.

^^^^ x2 the rear Sherpa and rear Cold Springs racks can even be used on dual suspension MBs..!!
I found them when looking for a front rack for my suspension fork....
