Fifty Plus (50+) - New Yorker riding from Juneau Alaska back to New York about 12 years ago

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

About 12 years ago, a friend and I rode down the Alaskan hwy. Along the way, before the Canadian border, I believe, we caught up to a middle-aged rider heading toward New York. He was a retired sargent with the New York police department and was riding for pledges toward a charity, I believe his name was Bill. It was his first long ride but he seemed to be doing well, even though he wasn't properly equiped with riding clothes. I remember he had many bells on his boots because people had warned him of grizzley bears.
Is that rider a member of this forum, or does anyone know of him? I would like to know how he made out....if he was able to complete his ride successfully, he certianly had a lot of enthusiasm and a great attitude.
