Ok, I know this is a normal biking forum, but I figured I'd ask.
I have this Viper Motor, it was built as an addition to a normal bicycle, and it uses friction to move the rear wheel. My friend basically gave this and the bike it was mounted to, to me, although it needs some work. I was running it today, and it works ok, has some trouble up hills of course, but the engine is getting really hot. I know this is normal, but is there a possibility it will overheat and do somethig crazy?

Also, is it possible to get a chain around the axel do hickey and connect it too the freewheel, thus making it non friction oriented?

If you're not a little old woman with at least 6 grandkids you should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking, much less actually asking such a question. It sounds to me like your lack of physical activity has turned your brain to mush. No go out and ride that bike, without the motor, until you come to your senses.

That is an aircooled two stoke, it will get pretty hot. If you have not played(and no one else has played) with the carb screws and you run the correct twostroke mix in it it is unlikely to over heat. If it does it will simply stop. We even leaned out a Stihl saw powerhead to show what happens, it went to 20,000 rpms, ran for a few minutes, agitated for about two seconds and quit.

If you are unsure about the screws a turn and a half from fully in (Turn them in gently, they break easy) will get you safe if less than ideal carbing.
