Hi,
I'm a 15 year old kid wanting to get into racing sometime. I currently have a very bad bike! However, I am saving up. I came here to ask you guys what would be the best bike to race Junior races and Category 5. I'm certainly very low on cash! Is the Trek 1000 appropriate for racing? That's the only bike I think I'll be able to get enough for by next summer.

A little background I can hold 17-18 on my Toy's 'r' Us(Yeah I know I need to get rid of it!) for a good 30 miles or more, so how good do you think I would be at category 5?

i have a trek 1000 and like it. its perdy light and cheap the parts could use some upgrading. as for racing it i dont think it would fly. i would look at the ones that are made out of zr9000 metal which is around $1000 for racing. next year im looking at a 5.2 madone for around $2900 and i think it should be a fairly good race bike.
