It's a bit early but when is the start list for la Vuelta gonna be released? I want to know what T-MO'ers will start. Ullrich, Zabel, Vinokourov?

Try that one. And you can click on the "Team selection + (provisional) startlist" to see which teams are riding, whose dropped out, and the names of the riders for the teams riding.

OLN carrying the coverage of it? Or where do you find that kinda info?

OLN is not carrying it.

By the way, the site I posted is dedicated to start lists.

does anyone know if Danielson is still fassa's GC man?
I am hoping that Alejandro Valverde can get another podium position. and hoping for a strong Sevilla

I hadn't heard that Danielson was ever Fassa's GC guy for anything at this point in his career. I suspect former Vuelta winner Jimenez will ride for GC for Fassa.

That would make sence – not sure what I was thinking.

This year's Vuelta could end up being the Grand Tour not to miss with Heras, Mayo, Zubeldia, Beloki, and Jimenez all riding to salvage something from a season off the tracks. Sevilla and a very strong Phonak team should have this race targeted and if USPS shows up with the triad of Azevedo, Rubiera, and Beltran, anyone of those three could come away with the victory or a podium spot. Mancebo could find an opportunity here, as could Menchov, Sastre, and Pechoramann. Curiously, Leipheimer is not listed as a starter for Rabobank in spite of his podium performance in the past. Vino is listed for T-Mobile and I believe a very highly motivated Cadel Evans may ride. Saeco's starters aren't posted yet, but Petrov could do well and if Cunego starts, well, he should at least get a stage.

Don't miss the...er, video.

This year's Vuelta is going to be waaaaaaaaaaaay more exciting than the Tour and Giro. I can't wait!

Mayo vs Azevedo vs Zubeldia vs Heras vs Sevilla vs Vino vs Mancebo vs Sastre vs Evans vs Beloki vs Jimenez vs Cunego...

bring it on!

g'day,

this years Vuelta is gunna be the 'tour of tours'!. Can anyone remember a tour with more potential GC possibilities than this?. As usual, the only coverage we will get in Oz is the DVD a month after it's finished, (unless of course 'our' man Cadel is going well!)...thank the lord for forums like this & cyclingnews.com!,

cheers,

Hitchy

Please sign this petition (and get others to do the same) if you want OLN to cover this year's (as they did last year) Vuelta:

Tyler will be riding the Vuelta. I gotta think he is one of the top picks to win if not the outright favorite. But he's not LANCE, so, OLN will still probably not show up.

USPS is taking Rincon to the Vuelta, so we will at last get a chance to see him in a Grand Tour.

The Vuelta just got more interesting. :)

Does satellite tv get eurosport? I have a friend who is slightly interested in cycling, but she said she didn't know if she had eurosport on her satellite tv. If so, we can record it and we can get some kind of coverage.

I checked with Telemundo here in Chicago- so far, I don't see anything about the Vuelta.

Supposedly the TV station TVE (available with some Cable companies, and some Sat companies) will be showing at least the first stage of the Vuelta on 9/4 for 75 mins, which I think would be right for decent coverage of the 27km TTT.

The TV listings only go out 2 weeks and there are no listings for any programming past that date.

Here's the website - http://www.rtve.es/canales/tveinter/

Dish Network has TVE Internacional as part of their Dish Latino packages...

The least expensive package goes for $24.95/month...

Mayo is out due to illness (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2004/aug04/aug18news) unfortunately.

That sucks about Mayo being out... was looking forward to a good showing from him.

At least Tyler's in. Wish Jan would be there.

Ditto, Devil.

Anyone around that will be getting the Vuelta that can give us a daily recap? Anyone?

I wish OLN was going to at least give us some daily hightlights. One show weeks after it is over is lame.

My guess is that Cyclingnews.com will probably have daily live coverage. That combined with their excellent daily recaps is enough to keep us fully updated.

I was thinking along those lines. I've been scouring eurosport.com. I've always found them to have really good coverage, and I'm still hoping I can log in on Saturday to that website and find some European channel covering it. I may not understand it, but if I can get it and listen to Eurosport live, that could be a really great combination to keep up with the Vuelta.

The year I lived and worked in Ireland spoiled me. I had Brit Sky digital. They coverd every Euro bike race live and then re-live (taped to us in the USA) and then they would have a recap.

I'm thinking that with Postal now being Discovery we might get some better coverage due to the fact that Discovery also brings BBC tv to the US market. We can hope!

Anyone wanna take a look at each teams potential or obvious GC guys?

llles Balears

Denis Menchov - won the Tour of the Basque country, a stage at Paris Nice and finished second in the Vuelta a Burgos. It's probably no secret that he's my man. Top 15 for him.

CSC

Jorg Jaksche - Had a great start to the year with overall wins at the Tour of the Meditarian and Paris Nice. Injuries slowed him down some mid-spring.

Euskaltel Euskadi

With Mayo out, does the GC torch get passed to Zubeldia. I'm also promising a stage win for Sanchez.

Alessio - Bianchi - I would love to see Backstedt tear this race up. He did drop out of the Tour de France, but he was strong in the Paris-Roubaix! I would love to see what Martin Hvastija can do to help out MB for the tour, seeing as though he was (ridiculously) thrown out of the Tour de France just before the start of the prologue over allegations (by the way, any news on that doping). Lunghi's won a handful of different stages for different teams over the past few years. I haven't seen his name around much in the races this year, but maybe one stage win?

Backstedt decided to quit for the year. He had some back problems and decided that he was better off resting up for next year.

There's no way he was going to be a GC contender anyway. He's no climber. :)

Yes - it's beyond lame. Unless you simply can't get enough fishing reruns, cancel your subscription. Then, send OLN an e-mail here:

OLN Feedback E-Mail (feedback@olntv.com)

stating why. That's what I did. It may not help for this year, but perhaps we'll get the Vuelta back for 2005. :(

I thought he was racing in the Vuelta, or has the lineup changed for A-B?

I could see why he'd quit- if it's true they may be losing a major sponsor again, I wouldn't do anything but lay on my butt and eat cheetos until next season, then find a new team to shine with!

And my compatriot Bodrogi Laci will also be there!

Everyone, watch out at time trials!

Baliko, what country are you from, and can you give me the name of the television station in your country that will be showing the Vuelta? I'd like to see if I can pick up that television station online so I can watch it!

Can you also tell me what time the Vuelta will start on Saturday on television?
Just an experiment. Hopefully this will work.

Dear Koffee,
Thanks for you inquiry, I'm from the shiny Hungary, you should visit once (you can see at the big "H" on Bodrogi's shoulders). My full name is Balikó László as here the given name is after the family name (as in Japan) and László is nicked Laci, like Bodrogi (Quikstep-Davitamon) also.
Vuelta will be live broadcasted on Eurosport daily latest at 15:30 - 17:00. That's all I can tell you regarding the German "Tour" magazine. Please follow teletext or net for the exact details (www.lavuelta.com).
