Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Internet deals on bullhorn bars & brakes?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I read a thread awhile back about a deal somewhere, but my half-arse searching didn't uncover it - anyone know of a good deal on a set of bullhorn-style handlebars and brakes? I'd pay a bit more for smaller sizes (say, 38 rather than 46, eh?). Shop nearby has a set in 46, and that's pretty honkin' big - they can order 'em small, but I don't have the dollars to pay what they want.

Here is a good set of cheap bullhorns:

I have them and I think they do the trick. Beats the $50 for Nittos.

Step one get a drop handlebar, step two get a hacksaw, step three measure, step four double check and of course step five cut. Viola bullhorns.

Step 6.) Get tired of the mildly awkward home-made bullhorns and pine away for something a bit nicer ;)

jinx - good link, thanks!

Take a look at some of the nitto and cinelli bull horns the look exactly like certain models of chopped drop bars(especially the pursuit bars). Besides the weird tactile surfaces stimulates your hands especially if you set the up with mountain levers in the center, there are at least five different symmetrical hand combinations not to mention the asymmetrical.

I've got the chucks bikes version.. you'll be nervous about the flex in them. They are a wee bit wobly.

I want to get the Nitto model 019... looked on businesscycles but when I clicked on "current prices" they did not show up. Are they out of stock or something?

Ditto (... and I apologize if this turns into a pseudo threadjack).

My weekly search for those bars on Ebay has become somewhat of a joke - they never come up for sale. As with many things Nitto, information on the 019 bars is a bit sketchy: I've seen them listed down to 37cm in width, but I've also read that they come even a bit narrower. Also, I've only ever seem them offered in alloy - anyone know if there's a chromoly version available?

Anyway, here's a 2 page .pdf I came across some time ago. The big favourites are absent unfortunately, but it's a decent snapshot of the Nitto product line.

The "alloy bullhorns with anataomic bend" from Chuck's are pretty sweet: http://www.chucksbikes.com/store/br001a.htm

I threw on a pair of Tektro levers as well: http://www.chucksbikes.com/store/bk010.htm

The anatomic bend in the bars makes them a bit longer, to get the levers I have to stretch a bit - but the abundance of hand positions is great.

If you're talking about 'weightshift', I think it's ALL done by Absenter. :)

I'm considering switching to bullhorns too.. I never ever ride on the drops, so it seems silly to have them there. :)

the ones you're talking about are $12 now, right? and how flexy are they?

Those chucks look so weird though... and they definitely look like they should be shorter. The price is definitely right. Wouldn't want flexy ones though. I feel like I'd be doing about as good with some DIYs, quality-wise, but I could be wrong.

There are no stores around here with the Nittos, and I really want to try them out BEFORE I throw down all the money on new bars + brake levers and bar wrap.
