Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

From what I understand the Nike + iPod does not work for cycling. Which is fine, but I really like the concept. I know a full fledged GPS would work, but that is a big investment that I don't want to make.
Any other alternatives out there?
Thanks,
John

I'm just wondering why it won't work? Installing GPS really is a big investment. Try to search the web for the best practical alternative.

Best Buy had Garmin Edge 305s on sale for $75 a few weeks ago, you might be able to snag one for around $100 on FleaBay w/ HRM or Cadence. Alternatively, a Forerunner 305+bike kit is about $120 if it's on sale, both will track everything you need for cycling, but the Edge has a better on-bike interface and can be more easily mounted on the stem.

It uses an accelerometer to measure when your shoe strikes the ground, after measuring your average stride length, and thus doesn't work for cycling.
