Compared to allow components, let's say a high end shimano allow crankset vs. an FSA carbon crankset, the FSA is lighter, but what about its durability and longevtity? Do they where out quickly?

A well designed one will probably last as long or longer. I've got a bunch of carbon components on my bikes (handlebars, seatposts, cranks, etc) and they all seem to be holding up as well as the aluminum parts on my friends' bikes. Unfortunately, I've only had them for a few years so I can't yet give a comparative long-term opinion. I do know that the alloy RX100 crank on my old roadbike showed more signs of wear (but was still functional) at this age as my FSA cranks on my present roadbike. I haven't had any component failures with either material.
