Road Cycling - 2003 (or '02) LeMond Zurich: $630. Should I just buy it without thinking it through?

Frame and fork only.

It's new, but "old stock", as they say. It's black with red bits, and has the older style decals, in the "TImes New Roman" like font. It's all 853 with a carbon bladed fork, and either a cro-mo or alu steerer - i think 1"1/8.

Is $630 US such a good price that I should just grab it?

Does have have 853 stays, or only the main triangle?

Is the 2003 Maillot Jaune the same frame as the 2003 Zurich?

thanks

That's a $2000 bike.. when it was new.
Do you need it? Is it better than what you have?
Are in the market for a new bike?

You could probably sell it for what you paid for it... but make sure it has the original components on it. I've seen some bikes marked down where parts, such as wheelsets, have been swapped out.

Thanks of rhte reply :)

It's a bare frame and fork only, for $630

I don't need it.

As far as I know it will be better than what I have.

I am in the market for a new frame.

FH - I sent you a return PM before seeing this post - interesting opportunity.

A decent Ultegra build kit will run you $900 for EVERYTHING - if you go the new route like the following: http://www.coloradocyclist.com/common/products/productdisplay2_v2.cfm?PRRFNBR=19475&S=30938,30939,30940,30941,30655,26532,33052,19475,19476,28685,29392,30712,30711 I would also consider the FSA carbon upgrade kit - crank, bars and stem for an additional $160. http://www.coloradocyclist.com/common/products/productdisplay2_v2.cfm?PRRFNBR=32958&S=32957,32958,26740,29581,26381,29922,31142,33715,26686,26743,27699,27700,26733,26730,28638,28619,28 617,30088,28596,30093,31151,27018,28647,28648,29387

I built a bike for a friend with this kit and it is very nice. Only a couple of minor things I would change out - the seat post and the saddle. (both are fine just not preferred). All in all, this would make a great bike at less than $1700 brand new.

That frame-set in Australia would "list" for at least $1400 US!! You lucky buggers.

This Mailliot Juane has a list price of $2400 US ($3500 AUS):

The MSRP on the '04 Maillot Jaune (classic all steel) frameset is $1299 U.S.. I've seen it for $999, so $630 for a new '03 is a pretty good deal.

I ride a an 03 Zurich and love it. Same frame as the MJ, all 853. Great price - if it's the right size go for it, you won't regret the move.
