Texas - Preston Ridge Trail Map - Far North Dallas

Hey gang I rode the whole Preston Ridge Trail the other day and damn if it doesn't lead you right under the 190 into Plano now!

I made a google map that you might want to check out. Later I am going to add the Preston Ridge North that goes from 190 to 121 in Plano.

Is this a paved bike trail, or on-roads or what? I don't normally ride over there.

By the way, I didn't realize you could do this with Google maps. You asked on the other post "why use mapmyride" and that was why.

I'd be a cool loop to connect the Preston ridge trails, ride up to the bluebonnet head East to the Chisholm Trail pass the mall and take Alma to Renner to catch the bike path to RBM.

I've gone from RBM up to Legacy on MUPs (except for the Alma/Collin Creek Mall portion) and back with Txvintage and it made for a nice ride.

Paved MUPs except for some streets to connect to the next section above GB Turnpike.

The Preston Ridge Trail is a hike and bike trail, 12" wide and paved. It's what the City of Dallas calls a "major linear" trail. All of it runs along a TXU easement. The blue lines in my map represent the paved trail, the red line represents a connector, which could be anything (alley, road, dirt, sidewalk, whatever). You should also see the DART rail system in the map which is helpful for those who like to combine the rails and trails to get around.

The beauty of Google maps is you do not have the annoying and misleading pop-up advertising that MapMyRide subjects you to. What they're doing is cool but their ads are really obnoxious. I'm going to publish an article on how to make Google maps soon. It's pretty easy but some people like step by step instructions.

Yeah man I saw where you can now take the north branch of the Preston Ridge Trail section in Plano all the way to Hwy 121, and you cross an east/west trail (or two) along the way. I'm looking forward to exploring that branch soon.

Getting all the way out to 121 is cool. It's hit or miss on getting out to Northwest McKinney, or up into Frisco, from way out East where I am.

It looks like up around Parker and Spring Creek there is the beginnings/extension of a concrete trail running through the bottoms next to Parker back to about Los Rios or so. No idea what else is involved though.

We need someone who can google map from north of 121 into Frisco or anywhere else as long as it's on trails!
