Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Windsor Timeline thoughts

I havent seen a Windsor Timeline thread here, so I thought I would start one up (since I am thinking of purchasing said bike).

Now, what do people think about that bike? Specifically, the frame. I am looking for something that is slightly more relaxed geometry, with waterbottle mounts. I was gonna pull the trigger on the Dawes SST AL, but that sold out. I love the fact that the bike can mount fenders, brakes, and has capability for larger tires, etc. I have zero plans for barspins or any trick doing whatsoever. I want it strictly for spinning around with slower roadie friends.

In the end, I could see replacing almost every part on the bike, which is why I was wondering specifically about the frame. Does the frame seem like one that will last? One that will be worthy of upgraded parts?

if you want a cheap bike that'll get you on the road right away, then i think the timeline is a good choice.

if you're looking specifically for a frame to build around, i would start with something nicer.

that said, it's up to you if you want to gradually put nicer parts on that frame. i mean, regardless of the frame, nicer parts = nicer bike overall.

If you just want a frame, and a project I'd suggest starting with an 80's Japanese sport touring bike. You can get a great riding frame with horizontal dropouts and large tire clearance for next to nothing. Then, mix and match parts to your hearts content.

If you want something to ride now, the timeline is a pretty good bike.

Compared to a Windsor The Hour.

They're both probably around 20lbs depending on the size you get. If weight is of any concern, then go with a kilo tt, the frame is made with better steel and double butted.

I am thinking about getting either Kilo TT and Windsor timeline as well.

1 thing attract me about the Windsor is that it already comes with freewheel cog which I prefer a single speed instead of fixie.

And it also comes with 2 front and rear brake, with $300 something, i guess it's pretty good deal.

However, I've seen lots of comment recommend the Kilo TT for beginner.

So i need some advise ~~~~~

Get the windsor if you like to coast, kilo if you want to do track stands.

54c should probably be good

[note Kilo is sized C-T vs the standard C-C on most bikes including the Timeline]

Yes its a flipflop hub, but you'll prolly have to buy the cog.
